Live and in Color: The Emmy Awards will be presented in real time

when-are-the-emmy-awardThe television academy isn’t going with its controversial “time-shifting” plans and will present all 28 Emmy Awards during the September telecast, live and in person. We applaud the decision to make the Emmy awards slightly relevant again with this decision.

The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences decided last month that it would “pre-tape” eight awards and speeches to follow, including some in the writing category. Needless to say, the Writers Guild of America took offense to the plans and blasted them.

The academy reversed field today, deciding to mend the fences with the WGA and make it all live once again.

“We appreciate that the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences has decided to present all 28 awards live on this year’s Primetime Emmy Awards,” the WGA statement said.

The 61st Emmy Awards will come on at 8 p.m. on Sept. 20 on CBS, and it might actually be a little more interesting now.
