Review: Best Show on Television
This show is hands down the best drama series on television, and the reason is mostly because of the writing. While some might not like the direction the show is going plot-wise, one can't dispute the fact that character-wise, the writing is fantastic. It is rare that you get to see so many multi-faceted characters dealt with individually. You see personal struggles as told by flashbacks that relate to the current events on the island, and the flashbacks really are personal, because it's not as if each character is explaining the flashbacks as they happen. While it might be hard for someone to come in in the middle of the story arch set up by the first two seasons, I would strongly suggest you give it a shot. Rent the first season on DVD or download it on iTunes. I think the second season can be viewed for free at ABC.com. This show is proof that good writing still exists in Hollywood, and it really got shafted for the Emmys. Watch the show. Keep the ratings high, because I want this show to go on for as much time is needed to finish the story.
