trueblood_posterHBO announced the renewal of its now hit summer lineup of original shows, ordering another round of  “Hung, “Entourage” and smash hit vampire drama “True Blood.”

Network executives have stated “Hung” will get a second season due to strong ratings, “True Blood” a third season with all cast already signed and long-time hit “Entourage” a seventh season. All 3 will launch their new seasons sometime in 2010, probably summer/fall.

This Sunday-night lineup has given HBO its first two-hour hit block of must-see programming for the first time in several years. True Blood in particular has broken out, giving the network its most-watched show since “The Sopranos” in terms of pure market share. We’re not shocked, as its a high-quality, intriguing, well-written show.

“True Blood” has averaged 3.8 million viewers (11.2 when you add repeats, DVR and On Demand viewing factored in, one of the first shows to rise that much with those figures factored in), “Hung” has averaged 3.1 million and “Entourage” brings in about 3.0 million average, all of which makes HBO execs very happy, we’re certain.
